No work due to lockdown, idol maker commits suicide in Mahabubnagar

Mahabubnagar: In a tragic incident, a maker of Ganesh idols who was left without work due to the lockdown committed suicide by hanging in the work shed where he used to make them.

Anil (22), a native of Gujarat, who has been making Ganesh idols in Devarkadra, committed suicide on Tuesday in an intoxicated condition. According to Bharath Kumar, his elder brother and the owner of the work shed, Anil got addicted to alcohol after his work stopped and he had consumed alcohol before committing suicide.

It was on his complaint that a case was lodged, said SI Venkateswarlu, Devarkadra police station.
