Medical student serving Covid-19 cases found dead in Chennai hostel, cops suspect suicide

A medical student in Chennai was found lying unconscious in her hostel room. Later she was declared dead. The student was working on coronavirus patients and had told her parents that she was under stress.

A 22-year-old medical student from Vellore studying in Kilpauk Medical College Hospital was found dead in her hostel room in Chennai. She was attending to coronavirus patients and had told her parents that she was under tremendous stress.

The student had not come out of her room on Friday which raised suspicion among her hostel mates. Her neighbours at the hostel raised an alarm.

The hostel warden came over to check on the girl who was found lying unconscious. She had last communicated with her parents on Thursday night over WhatsApp.

The deceased was a house surgeon and had told her parents that she was in tremendous stress. She was attending to Covid-19 patients for some time. Police suspect she committed suicide.

The medical student was later declared dead and the body was sent for post-mortem to find the exact cause of her death.

Police officials suspect that it could be a case of suicide but confirmation on the same will be after the post-mortem report
