Palamu: A migrant labour who returned from Rajasthan to his village, preferred not to go to his home instead he went to quarantine centre for precautionary measure. The wife of migrant worker suspected that her husband Dhanjit Bhuia is coronavirus positive and thus he was quarantined, she thereafter committed suicide.
The reports stated that Rinta Devi, the wife of migrant worker, committed suicide by eating poison at home.
The officials, said that Dhanjit returned to his village on Thursday along with 15 other migrant workers. The police told the migrant workers to stay at home quarantine for 14 days and told the neighbours the same to stay away from the house of migrant workers who returned back to the village.
Dhanjit said that he went to quarantine centre for the precautionary measure because if he went home, he would have to meet his family and in case he tested positive he could have infected other so in thought of that he preferred to quarantine himself in school.
The police reportedly said that they were informed about the suicide on Friday. The police took the dead body for post-mortem in Palamu Medical College on Saturday.
The police has lead investigation into the matter.
The second Shramik special train with 1,131 passengers left Kadpadi junction for Ranchi on Friday at 7.40 p.m.
The passengers were brought to the station by the district administration. The procedures, including identifying and bringing the people to Katpadi railway station, were handled by the revenue and health department officials and all health protocols were followed before the passengers boarded the train, an official said.
In the morning, the workers were issued tokens after their credentials were verified.
