Haryana: Covid-19 Suspect Tries To Escape Hospital In Karnal; Dies After Falling From 6th Floor

The suspected patient of coronavirus tried to escape the hospital by tying bedsheets together to make a rope.

New Delhi: A suspected coronavirus patient died on Monday in Haryana in a bid to escape from a government hospital in Karnal where he was being kept in isolation.

The  55-year-old suspected Covid-19 patient fell from the sixth floor of a government hospital in Karnal town in Haryana as he tried to escape by tying bedsheets together to make a rope.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said the patient, Shiv Charan, belonging to Panipat was kept in an isolation ward of Kalpana Chawla Medical College. He was hospitalized on April 1 with multiple ailments.

On Sunday, a 58-year-old man from a village in Haryana's Karnal district, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at the PGIMER, Karnal's Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ashwani Kumar said.

Meanwhile in Punjab's Amritsar, an elderly couple ended their lives under the fear of Coronavirus, on Sunday. A suicide note has been recovered from the couple's place, which stated that the couple got fed up with Coronavirus scare, they were suffering from the illness for a long time.

Haryana's second COVID-19-related death occurred on a day when six more persons were tested positive for coronavirus in the state with the number of cases rising to 76 on Sunday.

The patient, who died in PGIMR, Chandigarh, tested positive for coronavirus infection on April 2 and was also having underlying health conditions including diabetes and asthma, karnal CMO said.

Haryana has so far reported 76 positive cases  Out of total positive cases in the state, 15 have been discharged. The fresh cases reported on Sunday included five from Nuh and one from Gurugram.

Home Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said 29 of the total positive cases are of the Tablighi Jamaat members.
