An elderly couple who committed suicide by consuming poison has died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at Khammam government hospital.

Vankudoth Hemla (65) and his wife Tulasi (60) took the extreme step due to financial problems. It is learned that the couple did not find work due to the lockdown and were suffering from financial troubles. On Friday morning, they consumed poison and were shifted to the government hospital by their neighbours who found them unconscious.
The couple has three daughters and two sons. Two of their daughters got married and two sons were residing with their parents as they were physically handicapped. The police registered a case and launched an investigation.
In a similar case, a 22-year-old youngster committed suicide due to financial problems at Chilkalguda in Secunderabad. He was identified as Deshaboina Narayana who worked as a receptionist at a hotel in Gachibowli. The victim is said to have taken loans and was unable to repay.
